Intel's Aedit running on MS-DOS was the best!
8" floppies, MCS-51 Dev system on wheels the size of a fridge.
And before that punched tape and cards!
You didn't run programs, you submitted them as a batch file overnight, to then find out you made a typo!

This is now free as the owner has retired and is feeling benevolent.
It used to cost a few thousand $ and is not trivial.
Very powerful.Enjoy.

Finished my heated chamber for Christmas
Merry Christmas to you all.
Finally finished my heated chamber.
My Kossel XL+ is in the garage so is subject to cool temperatures overnight.
So I made a space frame using 16mm diameter aluminium tubing and corner pieces.
Covered with thermal bubble foil and made a sliding door and lid with polycarbonate cortex.
The chamber is heated with a 40W bar heater, controlled with a separate thermostat. Once it gets up to 20βC it switches off and the heat from the bed keeps it warm.
RPi zero W camera to monitor the print job from the comfort of my Lounge. -
RE: BerdAir and noise attenuation
This helped a little.
Pump on vibration damping mounts, fuel filter on intake. -
RE: NOBODY USE RJ11, IT IS 2020 !! PLEASE USE RJ45 LIKE EVERYONE !!!
HAHAHAHAHAHA !
With respect to Duet3, I personally think it's a good idea to have RJ11 for the CAN and RJ45 for the Ethernet. Stops me putting things in the wrong hole !
Remember Duet3 CAN wiring is 1:1 on the RJ11.
Cross over cables often come bundled with modems etc.RJ11 lives matter.

Trouble updating WiFi, classic noise on 8266 problem
Hi,
I have updated my Duet2 WiFi to the latest offering, but my WiFi module would not upgrade from DuetWiFi server V1.21 to V1.23
PanelDue went down through all the connect baud rates and failed at 9600 with some comms failure.
So after going through all the roll backs, recovery methods etc I thought it might be h/w psu gnd related.
When I unplugged everything not needed, and the PT100 PCB, managed to program WiFi module OK at a highish baud rate.
Just a heads up in case you have the same issue and don't want to waste a few hours fannying about.
The ESP07-12 / 8266 is a bugger for this.

RE: Flickering led on Smart Effector probe
I had a similar problem, it was fluff on the cooling fan causing imbalance and vibration. Only present when thermostatic fan came on with higher nozzle temp.

Paid work: looking for Embedded Control Engineer
Hi,
If anyone is interested in doing some part time work for a UK company based near Rugby, please read on....
This could suit a (semi-) retired EE.
I work for a local University and have undertaken several projects to assist this SME using grant funding. The project has now come to an end.
Double sided PCB with a mixture of PTH & SMD components.
PCB will eventually need re-spinning to move it from prototype to production, and leverage improving supply chain conditions.
The PCB was designed using KiCAD V6.x and I am populating/debugging 6 off boards.Hardware details:
Processor: RP2040 Dual ARM Cortex-M0+ @ 133MHz (RPi PICO-W module)
H/W & Comms Protocols:
I2C, SPI, RS232, RS485 Comms, UART based
SIM800L 2G GSM Module, simple SMS messaging, UART AT commands
WiFi 2.4GHz CYW43439Knowledge/Appreciation of:
Solar Panel & Wind turbine technology
General understanding/appreciation.
Some RS232/485 comms may be requiredSoftware can be written in C, Python etc.
IDE Micopython, Circuitpython, Arduino, Visual studio etec.Hardware will be free issued for s/w development, once all modules have been tested/exercised using standard libs.
If you are interested please DM me directly, and I can supply more details.
If a suitable candidate applies, I will introduce you to the client company for you to negotiate your own rates/terms etc. I have no financial interest and am not a recruitment agency.Regards,
Julian S.

RE: WebCam
ESP-32 CAM module.
Its fun, small and cheap. Programmed with Arduino ide.But beware you canβt rotate image in any settings, so mount accordingly.
