When using a bed material that is transparent to IR, the aim is to have as little reflection from the rear side of the bed as possible, so that the reflection from the top surface dominates. That's why I advise using a black surface underneath. If the sheet is glued down to the heated plate, then you need to paint the underside black before applying the glue or adhesive sheet, otherwise the adhesive will reflect too much.

Both homing and leadscrew adjustment set the Z=0 position, so whichever happens latest will be the one that matters. For example, if you have a G28 homig command in your slicer start GCode, that homing operation will reset the Z=0 position.

Marlin uses mm/sec as the jerk units. RRF uses mm/min for all speeds.

A jerk of 100mm/min means that a sudden change in speed is allowed as long as it is on more than 100mm/min. There are a few reasons for allowing nonzero jerk:

XY jerk allows the head to move at constant speed when it it printing a circle that is approximated by line segments; Z jerk allows the X axis to change speed when you use mesh bed compensation and the head crosses a grid line of the mesh; E jerk is needed when using pressure advance, and to handle buggy slicers that fail to maintain a constant extrusion rate when they should do.

I've been studying your design and like the triangular 120° tower profiles you found on the German site. However, I have a lot of standard 2020, 2040 and 2080 profiles that I want to use (preferably). The rest can probably be made by myself or bought from Robotdigg and the German sites.

I guess I'll be starting the design work in Fusion any day now once I chosen the parts to use. I have an idea on a direct extruder á lá Nimble but with different drive mechanism that I want to try out in a real prototype. Simulating in fusion seems to work well but reality is a completely different thing.

Parentheses surround comments in standard NIST GCode, that is why they don't work in filenames. The workaround is for the filename to be enclosed in double quotes in GCode commands. I understand that DWC 1.21 will do this when it sends commands containing filenames. The same goes for semicolons.

Hmm…. thats right. In S3D I have Z-hop on retract and 'force retract on layer change' is checked by default. Silly me... 🙂

It's neither. The additional extruder movement is calculated as extrusion_speed * pressure_advance_time.

Agreed. It's one complex challenge. One posible way to workaround is employing the same technique as when using dual extruders. Setup a small priming pillar and when a speed/temp change is executed (the Mxxx command is present in the start script), the head retracts/moves to the priming pillar and waits for the temperature to reach the desired level. Then performs
unretract->prime->nozzle wipe->retract->Z-hop>moveX/Y and continues print where it left off.

Cura uses a variation of this method to prevent curling/warping when the layer time goes below the preset time,allowing the filament to cool a bit before continuing printing the next layer. The downside is that print time will increase and possible visible banding.

Yes thats what im saying its very hard to get a low deviation i have a heavy aluminium heatbed wich makes triggering a little bit delayed but after adjusting trigger heights its perfect and i can print whatever i want on my rostock max v2 310 mm build plate just g32 before each print and swoosh
