Connecting External Status LEDs
-
Hi,
So I have my DuetWiFi mounted at the bottom of my printer with a cover over the electronics. Unfortunately this means I cannot see any of the status LEDs on the board.
Say I wanted to mount some coloured LEDs at the front of the case, is there any way of wiring these to the DuetWiFI to replicated the status LEDs?
If not then my other option is to use 1mm fibre optic like http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fibre-optic-strand-cable-roll-1-5m-1mm-hobby-light-guide-train-model-tank-pond-/261835307183?hash=item3cf699b8af:g:C9YAAOxyObBTlggN to guide the light to where I want it on the case. I'll just need to figure out how to connect it to the LEDs on the board.

Hi Richard
There are a number of LEDs on the board and the answer is different depending on which one. It will be helpful to follow along on the wiring diagram https://duet3d.com/wiki/Duet_WiFi_wiring_diagrams
Power
3.3V&5V you can connect an external LED with appropriate resistor between 3.3V/5V on the expansion header and ground on the expansion header.
VIN - if you are not using both always on FAN connections you can connect a LED and resistor across these to get 12V/24V indication.Heater&Bed LEDs.
You can connect a resistor and LED in parallel with the E0,E1 and bed heaters (via the screw terminals) to get an indication of theseEndstop LEDs
Assuming you are using standard micro switches you can connect an LED and resistor between the 3.3V and the N_STOP pins on the endstop connectors. -
Thanks Tony, I think that covers it. I will post back with my results.
I don't suppose you have part numbers for the smd leds used on the board?

The Part numbers are:
Red: KP-1608SURCK
Green: KP-1608SGC
Blue: KPG-1608QBC-D
