Smart Effector on Corexy...

@dc42 Yes please David would love one of them for mine will make my mounting much easier. When can I have one to test

@dc42 could you go smaller than 80mm? That's still quite wide.

We could do a rectangular one, perhaps 80mm x 40mm, with the mounting points on the short edges. Would that be better for mounting on a CoreXY printer?
I was looking at the design files the other day and have been meaning to ask this question: is the force sensor designed like a PCB printed strain gauge?

The Smart Effector has about 12 sq cm of strain gauge traces (less the hole for the hot end), plus another 12 sq cm of circuitry and connectors. We can't really reduce that. So we need an area of around 24 sq cm plus a little extra for mounting holes. Maybe we could make it 70mm wide, but not much narrower than that.

Count me interested in one as well. I'll beta test like Doug! I'm OK with 70-80mm length as my carriage is 80mm long.

@dc42 80mm will be fine for me especially if you can get the connectors along the long edge that would make for an easier mounting!

works very well....

@flopo76 would you care to share the design files for your carriage (I assume it fits to a MGN12 rail at least that's what it looks like)
also do you have any issues with the offset causing a wider than normal range of repeatability of the sensor?

I made a new version, with all connectors on top of the PCB, to make more space for the fans. I also did a hotend with the lathe. It works great. I load everything on Thingiverse when everything is ready.

I will buy one if you build them.
