Using Mos Module to run different FAN Voltages / Berd Air
-
Hi there!
I would like to try using a Mos Module https://hobbycomponents.com/motor-drivers/661-irf520-mosfet-driver-module (usually used for Arduinos) to run a Berd Air pump (24 V) simultaneously with a 12 V Noctua Fan. Therefore I got the idea:- Use the 5 V Switch on the duet Board to generate the PWM- Signal
- The Fan- Output is Connected to the Mos Module (SIG and GND)
- I can power the Mos Module with the Voltage I need and have a additional "fuse" for Current Overload...
Do you think this will work? I am a little bit afraid of burning my loved Duet Wifi

Really strange... Tried it now:
If I run the module with 2 PSUs (5V as Signal and 24V as Main), it works perfectly. Also if I run it at the duet with only the signal voltage connected (the LED blinks ones at start). But if I connect the 24V, the Fan runs all the time...? That's really strange! Anybody who know how to solve this? This is a link to a circuit layout I found:

I suggest you use an isolated mosfet switch instead, either a conventional 4-terminal DC-DC SSR such as https://www.auberins.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2_30&products_id=450 or https://www.auberins.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2_30&products_id=288, or a 5-terminal mosfet switch such as https://www.reprap.me/power-expander.html or https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3-20V-Mosfet-MOS-Transistor-Trigger-Switch-Driver-Board-PWM-Control-Module-TOUS/302830138710.

Its really strange! I now tried:

Both didn't work... The only Mosfet that worked so far is this "big one" usually used for heated beds...:

(https://www.reprap.me/power-expander.html )???

But I can say that the reprap.me one works I have a couple of them and there fine you do need to solder the connector in place tho guess thats so you have a choice to hardwire if your wish
