4-wire cable length
-
Hello,
What is the max length that can be used for the connection between the PanelDue 7i and the Duet Wifi? Not using the SD card slot that is on the PanelDue -
https://duet3d.dozuki.com/Wiki/Connecting_an_LCD_control_panel#Section_Connecting_a_PanelDue they mention it here for a bit. Basically, it doesn't matter if you're using a 4-wire cable. Which will probably be the case if you're not going to use the SD card. Just make sure its resistance is low enough and shield it if you intend to run the cable alongside stepper or hotend wires.

Hi,
Thanks. I did read that before I made the post. Also I know the PanelDue is shipped with a 1m 4-wire cable. I would like to use a 1.5m cable. I'll make one and see what happens. -
I used a cat5 cable with a length of around 5 feet. I only used 4 of the wires. I'm planning on using the other 4 wires for switches to leds later.
No issues at all with the length.

@timcurtis67 thanks for your information. Sounds promising.

@quadcells It's serial communication at 57600 baud, so something like 2m shouldn't be an issue. Unless it's a really noisy environment or you've got something running in parallel to the wires. I second the cat 5 cable idea, nice shielding and leaves you with 4 more wires to run endstops, fans or LEDs.

The one on my delta is about 1.8m long. The important thing is to keep the resistance per conductor below about 0.1 ohm.

@dc42 will do. Thanks
