simple filament run out switch
-
I would like a simple filament runout roller switch connected to end stop to trigger pause.g but don't I read firmware only supports that printing from sd card. I have never done that and never will. I use web interface. Or does that count as sd card print?

@sjason1377 Yes, if you upload and print with the web interface, it works. I installed a simple microswitch, and printed 10 almost empty reels this weekend

When you upload through the web interface you are uploading the file to the onboard SD card. It means to say that it wouldn't work if printing over USB.

@sjason1377 If the file is uploaded to the SDcard (normally via the web interface) then the Duet has control over it and so can pause/resume etc. To use a simple switch as a filament out sensor see:

@T3P3Tony the wiki page you linked seems to be a bit outdated.
M591 supports many more filament sensor types now! https://duet3d.dozuki.com/Wiki/Gcode#Section_M591_Configure_filament_sensing -
@resam the page did mention simple switches and pulse generating sensors. I have updated it to make it clearer by listing all the types on the page.

thanks for that, you are great at responses!

@phaedrux thanks for the clarity! plain simple understanding.
