Help with setting up motors.
-
@saltypetz I have been a CNC field service engineer for 20 plus years. You are wrong. The information provided is more than adequate, you just do not want to spend the time needed to successfully commission a new machine.
You did not buy your own control and a frame and build your own CNC. A portion of the 100k you spent on a finished machine is the fact that someone else designed and programmed the machine. Your the designer when you buy a control and build a machine.

All I did was asked for was help and I got the wrong answer.

All I did was asked for was help and I got the wrong answer. So it took me a month of lost time because someone gave me the wrong information and I had to figure it out. I have also been working with CNC machines 20+ years. I have two other printers using Rambo Boards and you can call they if you have problem.
Actually I have searched your previous questions and you got good advice in them but this question here has not been asked as far as I can tell!
The M307 and M558 and even the G31 lines have nothing to do with the motor settings that you appear to be asking this time please make it clear what problem you are having in understanding the issue and we may be able to help you but as of now i'm afraid my crystal ball just isn't working?
-
Now Everything works great I just don't understand in the reprap software how to setup the motors.
They are going way to slow. It took me a month to figure out my first problem I just can't keep wasting time.
I don't understand how to set up the motors. That's why I posted all the links to make sure all the information was there. I have been reading on it but I can't really find anything.Thank you for your help.

OK so now we are getting somewhere can you post your full Config.g file please and confirm that the motors are slow all the time or only in certain instances like homing or bed probeing

Is there something I can do to set the motors up in reprap or do you do it manually. If I understood how to read the data sheet to put it into reprap I would try or maybe it is more then just that.

I think Y20 is slowing everything down.

Well you've done all there is to do. That is set the motor current - (generally 85% of maximum rated current is good value), and set the direction (which should be obvious). Other than that, everything else such as steps per mm, speeds and accelerations, depend on your machine configuration.

M203 X6000 Y6000 Z180 E1200 ; Set maximum speeds (mm/min)
M201 X500 Y20 Z250 E250 ; Set accelerations (mm/s^2)
M906 X1200 Y1200 Z1200 E1000 I30 ; Set motor currents (mA) and motor idle factor in per centOk these 3 lines are what basically controls the motors and for yours it think you should increase the values in the M203 to something like
M203 X18000 Y18000 Z300
you accelerations look way of as well but I don't know the TEVO but the Y value of the M201 looks very strange to me and I would have expected it to be similar to your X value and I would suggest that your currents for your motors are a bit high i would try withM906 X1000 Y1000 Z1000 E450 I30
Also your steps/mm seem a bit strange what toothed pulleys and belt does it use?
HTH at least a little bit (it looks to me like you have just taken the Steps/mm from your old controller which was probably set to 32 micro step mode so I think you need to halve the values in your M92 line although having looked at the extruder manual I think it needs to be increased for E0) According to the extruder data I think 1168 is the correct value for E0

each motor is rated at 1.5 amps except the extruder which is 0.67 hence my figures
all are 1.8 deg motors AFAICT -
Everyone thank you for the help. Hopefully I can get it going today. I checked the board and it is a v1.03 I don't understand why this doesn't work but we got it working now.

It has two lead screws with a belt and one motor.

M92 X157.64 Y157.64 Z5120 E301.54 ; Set steps per mm
As @Dougal1957 said, those are unusual steps/mm values for X and Y - but not impossible.
M566 X900 Y900 Z12 E120 ; Set maximum instantaneous speed changes (mm/min)
Those values are OK, however I suggest you reduce the X and Y values to 600 until you know that higher is OK for your machine.
M203 X6000 Y6000 Z180 E1200 ; Set maximum speeds (mm/min)
Those are conservative values and could probably be increased, but I suggest you leave them alone for now.
M201 X500 Y20 Z250 E250 ; Set accelerations (mm/s^2)
The Y value is too low, try 500. The Z value may be too high, I suggest 100 for now, maybe increase later when everything is working.
M906 X1200 Y1200 Z1200 E1000 I30 ; Set motor currents (mA) and motor idle factor in per cent
The extruder motor has a rated current of 0.67A, so use E400 or E500 in that line. Otherwise OK. If the XYZ motors get too warm, reduce the currents from 1200 to 1100 or 1000.

As soon as I try to update the motor settings it doesn't start in the middle hot it goes to the far right corner. Also when I tell it to mesh it starts at about 100mm in from the front of the bed. May I did something wrong but before updating the speed it worked perfect. Is there somewhere I can read so I understand about the motors setup.

I have been messing around with the motor setting. When I change this line the beg starts about 100mm in from the front and about 30mm from the left. M92 X157.64 Y157.64 Z5120 E301.54 when meshing the bed. Also if I do Z home it goes to the far right corner not the middle of the bed.
Just from messing around with it this works perfect so far.

@saltypetz generally steps/mm for motion axis should be calculated, not determined by experiment.
Prusa has a good calculator:
for belt

https://www.prusaprinters.org/calculator/#stepspermmlead -
Is there more information that I can read so I have a better understanding what all the numbers are for.
I went on the calculator but I want to have better understanding of all the settings. I want to understand what they all do. If there is a link to something I can read can you please post the link.Thank you, everyone for the help.
