Pi Zero Power?

My power supply only outputs 12V. I'd like to have a Pi zero-W run as a web cam. Can I pull that much power from the Duet Wifi? Where?

There are 2 places on the Duet, in the expansion connector and the PanelDue connector -

I installed a USB port power plug into my PSU case. It also shows the PSU voltage for fun.

It must have a buck converter of some sort to drop it down to USB voltages.

How much power does the pi zero+cam take at 5V? Do you have a PanelDue connected and if so which one?

Doing a quick survey, with the camera running and the chip compressing 1080p, it draws 240mA at 5V.

Hey.
Most Raspberry Pi's, according to the online information, need a good 1.5 to 2 amps power supply to run without issues.
So I'd look to give it a good power source external to the Duet.Ian

Zero W will not draw more than 500 mA barring very specific circumstances.

That seems to be my reading too. The zeroW is a single (not quad) core with 512M (not more as most larger pi)
Going back to my situation, I do have a 7" screen attached to my Duet Wifi. What would be the limit on 5V power draw from the Duet?
I'd like to have a zeroW webcam and an IR z-endstop. I don't know if the latter draws 5V, but I suspect it might.

I think David answered that here: https://www.duet3d.com/forum/thread.php?id=4146#p36434. You should be fine, around 1 A for Duet+PanelDue and 0.5 A for Raspi Zero W puts you still 0.5 A below the limit of the 5V regulator. I'd still probably go with a small buck converter. Just to be on the safe side in case something goes really wrong.

So you're saying: pull the power from the 12V … but with a converter.
Can you point me at a cheap solution for that? Buyapi.ca only has a $30 part for this purpose.
