Controlling LED through toolboard
-
Hello,
I am in the process of creating a custom tool changer and wanted to know if tool boards (either 1LC v1.3 or Roto tool board) have any capability to interface with an LED and adjust/change color to indicate certain action: heating, active, etc. I see some spare IO in the schematics.
Any suggestions on what LED would work with these tool boards? -
@RockB The 1LC just got the ability to drive a short led strip via out0 in the latest 3.5 development code, should be available with the upcoming rc4 release which will be available real soon now.

@oliof thanks for the update. Is there any particular brand or part number of LED recommended? I am looking to address a single RGBW led to indicate status of hotend. Would something like this work?

Little skeptical about required power requirements. Open to any other suggestions as well.

@RockB yeah those would likely need external power. Maybe considder these https://www.adafruit.com/product/1260

@RockB the Roto tool board has a dedicated output for LEDs and enough 5V power for a strip of reasonable length. The 1LC can only drive LEDs from the IO0.out port (which is not available if you use a BLTouch) and normally needs external 5V power, although it should be good to drive a single RGBW LED.
