Voron Z offset question

duet 5hc & 3hc fw3.4.5 voron 2.4r2 corexy omron probe DWV 3.2.2 (HAVEN'T FIGURED OUT HOW TO GET CONFIG FILES OFF OF WEB INTERFACE)
Hi, I am new to reprap firmware and need some guidance on setting the z offset.
My probe is ~1.5mm above the nozzle. When I home z the nozzle sits 6-8 mm above the plate.
I can't feed it down any further. Guess the probe is stopping me. DO I raise the probe, until the nozzle is my desired gap (0.4) ?
What command do I need to set in the config.g?
Am I doing this wrong for this fw?
Thanks for any guidance -
@wbrokow1 What kind of probe are you using? If it is an inductive or any type that does not need to be in contact with the bed to work then your want it to be higher than the nozzle. However, if it is a probe that contacts the bed like a Euclid then it would need to be lower than the nozzle but after docked, higher than the nozzle. For something like a BLtouch then the probe should sit higher than the nozzle but close enough that the pin when dropped hits the bed. The correct setting for the firmware is the M558 for setting the type and the G31 for Trigger value, offsets, and trigger height. The easiest way is to look at the G-code reference on the duet3 website: https://docs.duet3d.com/en/User_manual/Reference/Gcodes

To show us your config and homing files you can right click on them in the web interface and download them, or open them there and copy and paste the text here. It would be helpful to see config.g and homeall.g for starters.
Have you seen this? https://docs.duet3d.com/en/User_manual/Connecting_hardware/Z_probe_testing

Check your wiring.
