Print fan with 'Smart Effector'
-
I'm building the large Kossel delta (DC42 design) and it uses a 'Smart Effector' that has two fans.
The first is the normal hot end fan and comes with a fitting duct, the second is a 'print fan' that is attached to the effector with a printed bracket and shroud.
That's fine if you have working 3D printer which I don't - I have managed to make all the other brackets etc by other means but this one would take a long time to fabricate.
My question (finally ) is can I make do without this fan initially ? The bracket and shroud will be the first things I print (hopefully next week)
Thanks in advance.

Yes you can. I recently bent the fan duct on my printer because I had a head crash while testing new firmware. So I bootstrapped a new fan duct. First I printed a new fan duct (in PLA), without using a print cooling fan. The bridging was horrible, but the shape was more or less OK. Then I fitted that fan duct and printed another one. This time the bridging was good. So I fitted that one and threw the first one away.

Any problems motley and I am 100% sure someone geographically near to you could print you one and send it to you. If you're in the UK let me know.

I have a set like this I will ship to you for postage. They were prototypes. Fits 40mm blower fans with a v6 block.

Edit: now that I think of it, I have the DC42 style ones too if you just want thatβ¦I have a few. Pay shipping and it'll be in the mail tomorrow.

Hi Hamel,
That's very kind - I have a 24v 40mm axial fan (as on the BOM) so I think the DC42 style one(s) would be best - pm me the details of payment - maybe Paypal?
Cheers,
Chris
p.s. thanks to all for the responses, so close to getting the printer running

I sent you an email. Sorry, I am in the US, and I doubt you will want to wait and pay for shipping from here.

Motley, did you see my earlier response about how you can 'boostrap' the fan duct?

Hi David,
Yes I saw that - thank you
Looks like my best option, I just have to finish the wiring to the effector and start the commissioning process, new PLA is on it's way as well.
Have to say the smart effector is very well thought out and a joy to work with
