Duet 3 6HC V1.01 VS V1.02
-
@droftarts thanks for fast response, though I saw the documentation before, my questions still remain what componentes changed from v1.01 to v1.02 to make it work with 48v beside the large capacitors that everyone could see...
In other words if I change the small capacitors from V1.01 with the larger ones that are present on V1.02 can i use 48v for input voltage or I need to change some other components... -
@weed2all I believe a fair bit has changed with the layout to support 48v and it's not going to be easy if even possible to convert a 1.01 to 48v
-
@jay_s_uk is what I was thinking as well...seeing now the pdf of both version of the boards...
-
@weed2all I'm pretty sure there was a post somewhere where Tony said it wasn't possible

@weed2all the version 1.01 board has 12V and 5V buck regulators supplied by VIN, both rated at 40V. The version 1.02 has a different buck regulator circuit rated at 60V that provides 12V, and 5V buck regulator that is powered from that 12V rail. In addition the OUT mosfets on the version 1.02 are rated at 60V instead of 40V, and various capacitors are rated at 63V instead of 5V.

Add a 2x6 header for an ESP wifi module - note this requires the module and firmware support to be completed.
Any info on whether this will be supported in RRF3.5? Also what wifi modules will be supported?
-
@dc42 is 12V still limited to 800mA on 1.02?
EDIT: Reviewing the documentation, the wiring diagram says 12V is limited to 800mA, but the description of the OUT banks says the limit is 2A ... so if I were to use a 12V fan with 2A power draw, could I use one bank for that, i.e. OUT7-9 with nothing else connected on that bank?
-
@dc42 thanks for reply...I think I'll sell my duet 3 unused board and buy the new version!
-
@chimaeragh yes RRF 3.5beta1 supports the optional wifi module. The module uses a ESP32S3.
-
@oliof the maximum 12V current is still 800mA in version 1.02. The 2A limit on each of OUT4 thru OUT9 applies when the corresponding jumper is set to VIN.
-
@dc42 thanks for clarification. The way it's documented on the Duet3 mini 5+ page is a bit more clear on this.
-
@oliof I've passed your comment on to our documentation maintainer.

Can I apply 36 volts to this 1.01 with the VIN being rated at 40 volts

@Ironman777 We recommend 32V maximum for the 6HC v1.01. This gives some headroom for voltage generated by stepper motors coming to a sudden stop.
