How well does the RPi Zero 2W work with the Duet3 mini5+?
-
I have a printer which I'd like to use with the Duet 3 mini5+.
I'm kind of new to the Duet ecosystem. I'd like to know if the Raspberry Pi Zero 2W is a suitable SBC for this controller board. The Pi4 is a bit too Can I use the camera header to attach a pi camera?The tread about the Pi Zero 2W (https://forum.duet3d.com/topic/25730/new-raspberry-pi-zero-2w) went a bit off-topic and didn't really provide an answer to this question.

@0nn0 I think @o_lampe had a Z2W working; see https://forum.duet3d.com/post/257109
However, it has the same processor as an RPi 3B, so performance is on the same level as that.Ian

@0nn0
I only benchmarked the Z2W and it was on par with RPi3b.
Without GUI the available memory is suitable for SBC use, I guess.
Everytime I wanted to test SBC setup for Duets, some threads here told me, it's not worth the extra hassle (yet)
You'd need a PC to connect remotely to the SBC; no advantage here either. -
@o_lampe So if I understand you correctly, the RAM shortage is the problem here?

@0nn0
I don't know if the RRF-SBC firmware needs the GUI? Then there might be problems.
But a classic Linux distribution probably is more RAM hungry than the RRF branch....so maybe it's no issue at all.
As I said, I never bothered to install RRFs SBC version.
Others please chime in here with free RAM numbers on their SBC? -
i've ran RRF on a fly-gemini-v1 and that only has 512Mb of ram.
I had to run it without a gui though as 512Mb wasn't enough for a desktop
