Duet 3 And Expansion Board Wiring Questions
-
Hello, I am trying to wire a Duet 3 with a Raspi 4 b 8GB, a tool distribution board, and one toolboard 1LC.
I had a couple of questions on the wiring...
-
I am not clear on how to wire the Raspi 4 B & Duet so I can power the Duet and SBC individually, Duet through VIN and Pi through official PSU.
-
How do I wire the Tool distribution board? Do I connect the included RJ11 wire to the RJ11 Port on Duet 3 and to CAN IN on the Tool Distribution Board, and then use solder sleeves and wire to connect the included CAN Wire with Toolboard 1LC to the included CAN Wire on the Tool DB and connect it to the appropriate port on Tool DB?
To sum up, would I connect VIN & RJ11 to Tool DB and then CAN wire from Tool DB to Toolboard 1LC?
My main concern is how to power Duet 3 & SBC individually as I have no clue whatsoever on how to do that.
Thanks.

@tratoon I don't think the newer boards power the Pi any more my older 6HC has the option but it never supplied enough to power a 3B+ let alone a 4 so I believe its just a case of plug in the Pi with an external PSU, is it the mini or 6HC your using?, regarding your second question the answer is yes

@jumpedwithbothfeet I just bought the 6HC, are you saying that I connect the PI as normal to the Duet 3 and plug in its PSU, and it will work?
-
@tratoon You need to read and understand this section of the docs with regards to the SBC 5v supply.
https://docs.duet3d.com/Duet3D_hardware/Duet_3_family/Duet_3_Mainboard_6HC_Hardware_Overview#h-5v

@tratoon assuming you have the latest board then yes, but @Rushmere3D is correct take a look at the link the only 6HC board you can do that on is the 1.01a board the others you simply need to set the jumpers and I would use an external PSU and not run off the mainboard.
