DUEX 5 V0.8 TO DUEX 5 V0.11
-
Sorry to hear you're having problems. Can you describe what the issues are?
-
@phaedrux yes whait minutes open computer
-
@phaedrux i replaced DUEX 5 V0.8 WITH 0.11V because i had step loss i was told it was not suitable for external driversnow I find myself with 6 problems The first remained the same with the problem of the loss of steps second en + It remained that when I connect it I disable the DM860H driver This is a printer that I designed 100% i milked 8 motors 4 for the instructors 2 x and y Who are the external drivers dm860h and then two more motors for the Z axis what I am amazed is the fact that my drivers work at 5 volts but I see that three other times also work the same but I think it is not enough anyway and I think this is the problem of the loss of pace my perplexity I do not understand why at V 011 signal outputs the 5 volts output has not been set up and I have to make a Crocco by adding another external component this at my own risk of course In fact, perplexity from an electronics that in any case I find it Very exceptional the 5V DIR PUL EN output was not foreseen only at 3.3 V and these are the two main problems that I had before and I have now in the meantime let's talk about these and then I have added another four problems even more serious than these that I did not have before and it is not a wiring problem absolutely because I only disconnected you were connectedDM860H V3.3 act英文 (1).pdf
-
@phaedrux i want to add another thing i am 20 days that i am trying to talk about my problems since where i bought on rap rap i was told to turn here for assistance with explanations but honestly after 20 days it seems a bit excessive that there is no no one who can follow me 10 minutes you prefer to give a very quick answer than to follow a person and then come back to it another 5 10 15 20 30 times I think you first see what the problem is and so I at least go ahead and I'm not here every time to write posts on post I'm sorry but I'm really very annoyed Also because to get answers sometimes we also talk about waiting 2 days I asked the engineer if he could please follow me for a moment he gave me a super answer fast without knowing neither for you nor for how I believe that it is not good anyway I am very sorry because I think that this electronics is really excellent but there are some problems that I want and talk
-
@phaedrux I also asked a few days ago If someone gave me a hand I would also be willing to pay rightly but at least to solve the problem because I didn't have the loss of the Pass suddenly the loss of pace occurred and then it is disappeared and then returned So there is something wrong and we are talking about a structure that weighs 60 kg
-
@phaedrux So what I want to ask is possible to have a few minutes to talk and not continue writing and wait you don't know how long to see the problem this is possible because I didn't design the electronics but it still has some problems and believe me i am not the latest arrival i have 29 years of experience
-
@phaedrux anyway I will wait for someone to be so human at least for humanity Yes you can give me answers I have been asking for help for 20 days visit an answer and then you do not know if it is right it is wrong I think that when one solves a problem another person will also have a satisfaction I do not know if this is a pastime for you is a game or you are here to gain experience or you are here for what you like we all have to do we all have commitments but at least for unity I ask if you can help me Thanks
-
@phaedrux many times I am here in front of the computer waiting for an answer for hours hours hours hours I can't take it anymore I think that after 20 days I am really attached or nobody is able to give me an answer or there is no one who interests them and I believe that in electronics is in programming and IT there is always always something to learn and believe me I'm really super annoyed with this mode I was very bad I didn't expect if someone wants to help me I'm also willing to pay for it we give us an appointment I don't know how You decide unless we speak once and for all no that a problem goes on for days and days days days
-
@dc42 please can you answer me that I want to talk to her
-
@phaedrux @dc42 when there are problems you find alternative solutions I do not understand why on such an electronics it has not been implemented even 5v for dir + and pul + at only 3.3v volts since the converters cost very little and I'm talking about the external drivers External Drives Most drivers run on 5 volts so What is the use of having a card version v 0.11 when the output is only 3.3v?
I think this is really a very serious thing because a card that really has everything in the end is as if it has nothing I also explain why I should put an external chip with the possibility of interference And then in any case it would remain really a very bad thing is the logic behind it. at the end I find the V 011 incomplete we see someone really want to talk about it since the engineer does not seem to me to be available to talk about this problem
especially if I want to disconnect the driver 7 and 8, high temperature messages start to come out which is false and I can prove it with facts it is easy to create a project and then market it but it is more difficult then to discuss the problems and I see that the engineer I don't seem to want to talk to myself. I'm very sorry
version 0.11 to 6 problems and I wanted to discuss with the engineer but it seems to me that he is not interested I am strongly sorry and disappointed

@paolozampini1973 just a reminder that it is the weekend and engineers deserve some rest as well.
The limitation of D7/8/9 to 3.3v is documented in the official 0.11 board description so whoever recommended upgrading from 0.8 to 0.11 board to get 5v control signals on those wasn't aware of this. I think there is no way around using logic voltage level shifters -- luckily they are relatively cheap and easy to get despite the chip shortage. (This limitation is true for many boards that use 32bit MCUs because 3.3v is their native voltage and in the overarching number of use cases, adding an optional voltage shifter that needs a toggle, and place on the board, is adding complexity and cost people will question at if they don't need it. In a quick search I found posts about this outside the Duet3D realm reaching back to 2017).
As an experiment to see if it helps with the high temperature messages, in addition to disabling the internal drivers by removing the jumpers, I would add
M569 R-1 Pnn
with nn being the driver number (so one line for 7, 8, 9) before reconfiguring it for external stepper driver mode with the timings. -
@oliof first thing Add a converter would have cost € 0.30 But this is not the problem The problem is that adding an external chip can create interference And anyway I always say it is not how much you spend and how much it is So this is really a nice problem because an electronics of this level should also have this conversion first second disconnect the drivers Yes ok it's fine but I can't disconnect all the drivers because I have 8 modules to live the upgrade that I did for me was really a delusion
-
@oliof then if it is possible to have external Drives 95% of external Drives have all the input at 5 volts so modify and upgrade an expansion and not integrate the 5 times with a converter or with anything it is really a great lack
-
@oliof As for the high temperature messages they are absolutely false because I have checked the temperatures AND the temperatures are at room temperature then there is another factor to consider it cannot give me high temperature when I put it to zero but the drivers So there is a very basic mistake The fact is that the engineer does not make himself heard leaves me a lot to think and I repeat I have an experience of 29 years on electronics and IT
-
@oliof the cost is not important but it would affect a maximum of 3% so what are we talking about building an expansion That is truly exceptional but then you get lost in a glass of water or rather in a drop of water because by installing an external chip you create interference problems and the masses are not reliable So in all this I find myself now not only with these problems there are other problems that I do not want to lick because the biggest problem is me this now is all this to solve a problem of loss of pace and when the engineer seems to me he does not make himself heard and it seems to me he is not interested I do not know other people What they do with this electronics but I have invested ten thousand dollars and allow me I am very annoyed and then we do not make a question of price because we are talking of € 0.30 in assembly stages at that point instead of charging $ 150 I would also pay $ 170 but at least I have a truly complete product and I have no problems
-
@paolozampini1973 it is not about component cost, and with 30 years of engineering experience you know that very well. Don't forget I am volunteering my time here and I am only willing to accept a modicum of abuse before I spend my personal free time elsewhere. So please, let's focus on the things that can be done instead of those that could have been done -- unless all you want to do is air your grievances, but then I will step out of the way. It is your choice.
-
@oliof then on the documentation it is written I recommend we put the power cable no more than 100 cm and then you say no to solve this problem we add it is an external chip but how do you say that it takes a properly shielded cable for external signals and then we do this nonsense but now Tell me is it really I'm saying bullshit It doesn't seem to me that this problem is completely logical and I repeat another time I would like to talk to the engineer and I repeat another time I have been in electronics for 29 years and I have done great works I can't name companies but they are well known to the world anyway, so I don't know the latest and I also know something about programming
-
@paolozampini1973 You don't even leave people 10 minutes to compose a reply before you repeat your accusations, that does not make for a good Saturday afternoon experience. I wish you the best of success with your project, but my volunteering time here has come to an end.
-
@oliof Yes sorry I don't have it you can because Aida is not facing you and that I'd like to talk to the engineer and I'm sorry about my tone but it doesn't seem to me that I'm saying a stupid thing now I have to solve the problem I have a investment ten thousand dollars Stop because I had only and only the problem of losing the pitch That's why I upgraded to the new version of the expansion
-
@paolozampini1973 if the drivers you need to use must have 5V signalling, you should use the Duet Expansion Breakout Board, which has the level converters built in. See https://docs.duet3d.com/Duet3D_hardware/Duet_2_family/Duet_Expansion_Breakout_Board
If you must have the expansion the DueX supplies as well, you can run both at the same time, using a ribbon cable that has an extra connector on it.
