Permanent mount for accelerometer.

I recently bought an LIS3DH accelerometer to get started with input shaping. I have room to nest it nicely in my printhead and run the wires cleanly, but is that necessary? Is input shaping something that you have to reconfigure every time you change a setting related to the motion of your machine or do you only need to do it once?

You only need to run it when you want to take a measurement, so having it permanently mounted isn't necessary. Having it easily removable and temporarily mountable would be preferable.
