Duet 3 6HC board for cnc
-
Just some findings about duet 3 board wired on a small 400x400x100 cnc...what I find till now...no matter the build in drivers can drive big stepper motors because the eliminating factor is the voltage input...on my cnc with leadscrew( 8mm lead) at 24v I can only drive the machine at 2400mm/min more than that my nema24 3.1 N.m. motor stalls..
With 30v I could bump the speed up untill 3000mm/min...the testing didn't stop here...I have a few skr 1.3 boards with wifi module and I install reprap firmware on one of them and i use some chinese JMC 2M542 drivers along with 48v psu...and wow...what a speed jump...I can get 8000mm/min with the same motors...with all of this the next step I think is to sell my duet 3 board...as I bought it on purpose for this cnc...
Hope someone find this usefull...I made 2 short videos with duet3/24v and skr1.3/48v
Duet 3 2400mm/min or 40mm/sec

@weed2all what is the specification of your Nema 23 motors, and what steps/mm do your axes have?
-
@dc42 I've testes 1/8 and 1/16...no much difference here...I've settle at 1/16 on most tests I made...
Oriental Motors
Model number : PK269 JDA
Basic Step Angle : 1.8˚
Holding Torque N·m : 3.1
Current per Phase A/phase : 2.8
Voltage V DC : 4.2
Resistance per Phase /phase : 1.49
Inductance mH/phase : 5.7 -
@weed2all and what did you have the M92 command set to?

when test made with 1/8 I had M92 set to 200...
On most tests at 1/16 I have my M92 set to X400 Y400 Z400
