Hybrid 3d printer.
-
Good evening this is my first post.
In the middle of building a large hybrid 3d printer.
Pellet extruder, spindle and 3d scanner manual tool changer.
When changing tools I want to use relays to switch the power and signals on and off at the connector.
Do you think this will cause any problems with the board. -
@hoops40 Which connector?
You usually want to keep a hot-end cooling fan working until the temperature has dropped before killing power to the controller...
-
@mrehorstdmd using liquid cooling, tools will only change once the unit is cooled.
Just want to make sure the control board does not have a fit when I disconnect the tool. -

Use freewheel diodes with the relais and connect them to unused heater output pins.
I'm switching lots of solenoids with separate driver boards (TB6612/ 1$ each). That way I can use any GPIO pin and the Duet board is safe. -
@o_lampe thank you I will try that.
Might be a while, should start wiring in a few weeks.
