PanelDuo 7i came with a 4-pin connector?
-
My PanelDuo 7i was delivered with a "4-pin <-> 4-pin" connector but the documentation says I should connect it to my Duet3 6CH on IO_0 which is a 5-pin socket?
Do I need to re-wire it?

you can eject the pins from the 4 pin and put them in a 5 pin housing.
4 pin is for duet 2
5 pin is for duet 3 -
Those pictures are from the wiki, not your real ones correct?
As i remember - cable needs to be rewired on the Duet3 side, so please just follow the pictures you posted here (and it is a good idea to double check with the wiring diagram).

Thanks, I just got it working after remapping the cable with a new 5-pin connector.
So all fine, but I'm a little surprised a correct cable wasn't included or at least the connector and a clear instruction in the box.
-
"Do I need to re-wire it?" Yes.
Maybe it's time they change the included cable because "Duet 3 Mini 5+ " also needs a "4-pin <-> 5-pin" cable

Btw, can't I updated the PanelDuo before I've fully setup the Duet?
Now I'm getting some errors.
Failed to upload dwc-settings.json Could not complete action because the connection has been terminated
The displays update info message stops 40%.
It (display) also fills the console with this:
Error: Bad command: M20 S2 P0:/macros
-
it could be interference on the cables.
are they running near other cables?

That means that DWC tried to save its settings on the SD card, but it failed. One for @chrishamm.

I believe that happens when you are running the Duet with a RPi attached and have not updated the PanelDue to version 3.2.x firmware.

I flashed it over usb from a Windows laptop, it's working now and no more error messages.

Can you please expand a little on this. Where did you see this message? Was it on the PanelDue screen? If that's the case this means that you were instead updating the mainboard firmware and in this case it is kind of normal that it only goes up to 40% because flashing is so quick that PanelDue will not process all status messages before flashing is done.
If it really was after using
M997 S4
you should have seen this e.g. in DWC. I have never experienced a flashing procedure stopping in the middle (in fact whenever it started it finished for me) but I would be curious to find a reason if that's the case.It (display) also fills the console with this:
Error: Bad command: M20 S2 P0:/macros
This happens if the firmware on PanelDue was 1.23.2 or older. The above command is lacking quotes around the value for
P
parameter and this has only been added to PanelDueFirmware from version 1.24 onwards. -
Thank you for all replies. All issues went away when I flashed the new firmware on the PanelDuo, so the problem was the old firmware.
