Duet 3 mini 5+ connecting fans
-
well there is something wrong cause it keeps burning my fans now. I killed 3 fans! WTF it was working fine last night but now out of the blue it kills my fans. I had 3 12v blowers and 2 cooling fans all dead. Even tried pc fan and it died to. What can i can?
-
are you sure you changed to jumper to 12v? 24v will burn out the fans.
-
@Veti no. I must have miss read. I read it as 5-6 was set on 12v and 3-4 was vin but it was the other way around ️
I do have a few 5v blowers. I also have a bukconverter. Can I just pull power from that? If so do I just connect plus to the converter? -
thank you for running the test.
i always wondered how long 12v fans would survive on 24v.
so apparently not long. -
@Veti lol not even a second! Btw can I just connect the + to a buck converter and run that on 5v and - to OUT6? Cause I have several 5 volt blowers but no more 12v.
-
that should work, but it would be best if someone else can confirm this works on the mini as well.

Yes, that would work,. However, as well as blowing the fans, it's quite likely that you have blown the fan mosfets on those outputs.

@dc42 i tried them with a pc fan and it was fine.
