What Duet should I get?

Hi, I'm currently working on a 3D printing project where I'm hacking a 3D printer to utilise 4 axes, so an x,y,z and a rotatory axis, therefore I would need 5 motors including one to run my extruder. I've been previously trying to re-programme the Marlin firmware to add and enable an open port on my circuit board - but I'm getting nowhere.
So I've decided to move to a Duet board where the RepRap firmware is a lot more customisable! I know I'll need to make a lot of changes, like the stepper motors etc, but I'm a bit confused on what Duet board to get.- I need to be able to add an additional axis
- The printer can't be connected to my laptop through the wifi, it needs to be connected to my laptop directly through a USB - because the university I work at has a closed wifi system which allows my machine to access it.
Will the Duet 2 Ethernet work for me?

I suggest you use one of our Ethernet-enabled boards and connect your laptop to it using an Ethernet cable, assuming your laptop has an Ethernet socket and you use WiFi to connect to the university. That way you will be able to use the web interface, which is far superior to using a USB connection.
You can choose Duet 2 Ethernet, or Duet 3 (although that is probably overkill for you unless you need to drive high-current stepper drivers), or you can wait until we are shipping the Duet 3 Mini.
