CoreXY Z axis

I have just recently got my new DIY build up and running.
But I can't get past the first test print.The Duet's Homing configuration is operating properly, as all the axes move in the proper direction.
But when printing the Z axis is reversed. The bed continues skyward and crashing into the head after the 1st layer.
The odd thing is, that I have it set to lower the bed .5mm for priming the nozzle before the print begins and it works fine.I am using Simplify3d and I have tried both min and max homing directions for Z to no avail. It still acts the same way.
What am I missing here?Also, after I home Z, it is unresponsive to any control inputs I may give it.
If I need to lower the bed after homing, I must restart the Duet board, then I can control Z no problem. X and Y continue to answer any moves I give it after homing.
Is that by design? What inhibits Z from moving after a homing command?Thanks in advance.

The + and - signs on the Z jog buttons refer to the height of the nozzle above the bed. So on a printer with a bed that moves in the Z direction, the + buttons should move the bed down, and the - buttons should move the bed up. Is this the way it is moving? If ont then you need to reverse the direction of the Z axis, either by reversing the connectors to the motor(s), of by changing the S parameter in the M569 P2 command in config.g from S0 to S1 or vice versa.
The other thing that is wrong may be your homing switch configuration. Do you have a Z homing switch? If so, it is at the bottom of the machine (so it triggers at Z max), or at the top (so it triggers close to Z=0)?

I went into this thinking that the axis direction didn't change regardless of the type of printer. Meaning, I just figured that UP was + and DOWN was -.
It works like a charm. I've never been so over the moon to print a 20mm test cube.Thank you, Mr. Crocker.

I already did that (the design bit, not the getting rich bit!) in conjunction with T3P3. The next design is well on the way - technology doesn't stand still.
But then you would spend every breathing moment answering silly newby questions like mine, and have no time to enjoy the money.
Thankfully I do find some free time. Today I took the first step to getting my pilot's license back. But every support question is an opportunity to improve the documentation, to either avoid the question being asked in the first place, or reply with little more than a link to a wiki page that describes exactly that problem and how to resolve it. You are not the first person to make that mistake, and I am sure you won't be the last.

Yes, I knew full well you were the designer for the Duet. As well as a huge contributor to 3D Printing in general.
And if you don't own an island yet, I hope you get it!And regarding the Pilot license. Excellent! I have always wanted one. As a matter of fact, as I am experiencing my scheduled mid-life crisis, I have seriously considered jumping off the cliff and getting my Helicopter license and become a pilot for the oil industry. I live on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico and there is a steady flow of helicopters carrying oil rig workers miles out into the Gulf.
I think it would be cool to do and it would probably impress the girls, I think.
