12V fan output
-
Hello! Recently my 24V part cooling fan stopped working. I have several 12V fans laying around, but im out of the 24V ones. I saw in the documentation that you can use a buck converter to give 12V to the V_Fan connector.
I have tried to do this, but for some reason I can't get any power output at the fan pins. I have a buck converter supplying some other fans and LED's. I have meassured the voltage output from it and its at about 11.8V. Im using the fan on the FAN1 output. No other fans are connected to the fan connectors.
I wired the 12V(+) to the connector as shown below(Yellow arrow):
Is there anything im missing here?

that should be correct, and you also have a common ground for the Duet and the buck converter presumably?

Oh, that might be the problem!
I have two PSU's in my printer setup, and the buck converter and the duet is not on the same. So the ground is not from the same PSU. I honestly didn't think much of it when I wired it up, but if thats the issue ill wire up another converter on the same PSU. Ill post back soon
Update: Thanks for pointing that out. It works now, but it seems like the two spare buck converters I have is bricked. They both ooutput right below 18V.

Do they have voltage adjustment pots?

@dc42 I have it working now, but yes, they sure did! Been a while sinse I sat up the first one. It has a LCD display where you can dial in the voltage and then adjust it with the voltage pot. I might have done something wrong, but I ended up with 5V on the display as output when I actually reached 12V output while adjusting the voltage adjustment pot.
Thanks though!
