Duet 2 or 3 for Corexy

@nriviera said in Duet 2 or 3 for Corexy:
you don't need the more powerful steppers
Can you please explain?
Thanks, Martin

If I were you Iād wait for the new Duet board.
The Duet 3 is imo too much even for a CoreXY.
Duet 2 would be enough but has outdated stepper drivers. -
"Outdated" is a bit relative isn't it? And if you're always waiting for the next best thing it'll be awhile. Having said that I'd be nice to see a rough timeline for the other news; all we know is the 5LC Maestro-ish Duet3 is a few months away.

@bearer
In terms of requirements for home 3D printers I'd say the Duet 2 is outdated for a while now.
The TMC2209 are the "go to" stepper drivers at the moment for home 3D printers. I'd rather have features like Stealthchop than stepper drivers which can handle 2.6 amps.
I was about to buy (import) a Kinetica G2C board which is a RepRap capable board that comes with TMC2209 but I rather wait now for the next Duet release -
@MartinNYHC the duet2 uses 2660 vs 5160 on the duet3. The Duet2 can use currents up to 2.8A vs the 4.5a on the 3. Most NEMA 17 steppers are fine but if you wanted to use 23s or have several large ones on the same stepper it might be an issue.

Thanks for pointing out, but I bought a Duet 3 6HC today
Now I need to wait for the ordered frame parts. Did I mention that I hate waiting at all?

@MartinNYHC oh well; at least you wait knowing the board will not be a limiting factor any time soon ^^
Waiting was torture even before covid and lockdowns; hang in there!
