Smart Effector Will Not Z-Probe detect

Greetings --

I recently received an additional Smart Effector (I have 2 already) and when plugging it in to existing connections, the z-probe hit doesn't register.

In my general debugging, I swapped out the new one with one of my existing Smart Extruders and there was no problem -- the Z-Probe and all electronics worked as expected.

I'm assuming that this Smart Effector is defective, but I'm told by my distributor (Filastruder) that I need to post to this forum to authorize the exchange. Are there other steps I should attempt in order to get the hardware running? I didn't have to go through it with the other ones...

So I have already commissioned the printer with another smart effector. I shouldn't have to change my settings right?

But to be clear, step 5 is where things fail. While I don't even get the LED to signal a successful startup, the thermistor registers the correct temp, so I know it's getting power and some things are working.

It's when I tap on the hot end and don't get the green light that I'm sure to have failed...

If I immediately unplug the faulty smart effector and replace it with another one, it works just fine. Same thermistor, hot end, heat sink, etc.

So step 4 doesn't work either? How many flashes do you get from the green LED when you power up?

Sorry for not being clear. The green LED doesn't flash at all (which I believe is the same LED that signifies the Z probe hit.)

But like I said, the thermistors register the proper temp, so I know that there's power going to the device and that SOME of the connections are working.

If it doesn't flash (normally twice) a few seconds after power up, the most likely reason is that that +3.3V power or ground is not reaching the effector. The temperature sensor connections are completely separate. So please measure whether you are getting 3.3V between the +3.3V and GND pins of the 8-way connector on the effector.

I get +3.284v on both the faulty effector and the working effector.

Thanks, in that case I approve a warranty replacement. Please contact your supplier.

Can you post some good photos of both sides of the effector here before you send it back? If using a smartphone camera, I find it helpful to hold the phone far enough back to get good focus, then use the digital zoom.

Thanks. I was mostly interested in whether all pins of the 8-pin connector had been soldered (they have), and whether both sides of inductor L1 were soldered down (which is hard to tell from your photo, but unlikely not to be).
