First impressions

First experience with my duetwifi and i am in love . I just have to compliment the development team on a fantastic product.
First Connection , wifi setup and firmware update was a breeze, i used the reprap tool and built a config file , used the upload tool from the web interface and have it all setup ready for first power up and testing tomorrow. I have to say that this board and firmware are just awesome.
I hope my remaining setup go as smooth as it has tonight. -

Sure thing , i planned on vlogging about the setup since there are zero videos showing the setup and / explanation of the system .
Also once i get everything setup and im thoroughly familiar with the firmware i was hoping to get more involved with the project. Im not very proficient in writing code but i have a knack for testing , wiki dev, tuning . -

I just have to second the compliments. I bought my first Duet Wifi to put in my Wanhao i3 clone (from Monoprice) after I broke the Melzi board. Another user in the Facebook i3 group had reccomended it to me, an I took the expensive chance. I've loved it, and mentioned it many times in that group, and I know at least a couple of other users who ordered one after that. I take every opportunity to mention the Duet Wifi in the Dbot group too, where one user was actually a little nervous that the Duet Wifi was becoming known within that group as the "must have" control board, which he thought was a little too much. So it has and continues to gain a great reputation.
I liked it so much in my i3 that, rather than move it over to my D-bot project and replace it in the i3 with something cheaper, I ended up buying another one for the D-bot. I've now got them both up and running, and keep two tabs open in a browser window with the i3 and Dbot web control interfaces up.
Again, great board, great support, and great user experience of actually using this thing. I even really appreciate the little touches like you guys including the baggy of Molex KK connectors so people can hook their printers up right. I've cut a lot of other connectors off cables and crimped on the proper Molex connectors just to make sure my wiring is securely and properly connected. I didn't buy a half-assed board, so why would I want a half-assed installation?

The 30mm coldend fan on my Chimera print head and the internal fan of the Meanwell power supply are much quieter than the fans on my i3, too. With the "silent as the grave" TMC 2660 drivers powering the steppers on my D-bot, that thing is extremely quiet even while printing at high speed. It's always jarring to me when I watch a Youtube video of someone else's printer and it's got that loud and eerily musical stepper whine going full blast during a print. It's just a reminder of how nice the Duet Wifi is. In my view it's truly the Cadillac of 3D printer controllers.

Many users, myself included, have found that because the steppers are so quiet, after period of time other sources of noise which weren't noticeable before, start to become intrusive. In my case, I changed to a fan less power supply which I am able to do because my bed has a mains heater. Then I have made full use of the thermostatic fan control options. The cold end fan is set to come on at 45 deg C so below that, it is off. I've also installed fans in my Duet enclosure which blow onto the back of the board but again, these run in thermostatic mode. I stuck thermistors on one of the stepper driver chips on both the Duet and the Duex5 so again, these fans although very quiet, never run unless the stepper chip gets above 45 degC. So when the machine is idle, it is totally silent (well apart from a very faint buzz from the steppers once they have moved and are running on the holding current). I'm even considering turning the steppers off completely at the end of every print because I always home at the start of every print, it wouldn't matter, but that's probably overkill.
