Connecting duex5 and breakout board with Duetwifi
-
I'm building a large format IDEX system, using external closed loop stepper drivers (Should I use Duex5 to get the 6th axis for additional U ? else any other way-out ?),
for external drivers should I use breakout board/ if yes then how do I connect both the breakout board and the Duex5...Kindly guide me to get this done -
Hi Milan
You can't connect both the breakout board and the Duex5. You can use the breakout board for 5 drivers and then the two additional outputs on the "CONN_LCD" header - This header has been re purposed to support two additional stepper channels, see the wring diagram:
https://duet3d.dozuki.com/Wiki/Duet_Wiring_DiagramsPlease provide a link to the data sheets of the drivers you plan to use for the extruders, that will be key to see what sort of circuitry you need in between the CONN_LCD header and the external drivers.

Thank you so much , will follow your instructions

Can I use 4 external drivers (X,Y,Z &U : Nema 34 for Z and Nema23 for X,Y &U) from breakout board
and for 2 extruders (E1 &E2 : Nema 17) can I use internal drivers?The driver ( JSD2505M) details link attached below

They might work directly on the 3.3V signals form CONN_LCD if you omit the series resistor R shown in the diagram. That resistor is needed only when using drive signals greater than 5V. You can use the drivers on the Duet to drive the extruder motors.

CONN_LCD connector
Thankyou so much @dc42 , will try connecting the same,
I would be using breakout board for XYZU axis and 2 extruders (E1 & E2) from CONN_LCD, if any issue then once again I would bother you - Thanks a lot
