There is a pin compatible version of the TMC2209 out.
Is there a possibility for an updated version of the mastro?
Advantages of the TMC2209 over 2208.

the maestro To the best of my knowledge doesn't have 2208's it uses 2224's I think. So I suspect the answer to your Question will be NO
