Unable to update duetwifi firmware
-
I have two duet wifi boards and to date have had no problem in updating them. However in trying to update to v1.16 it failed and I was unable to communicate further by the web server. I have since tried to update manually via usb connection. After erasing the old firmware and restarting the Bossa program port appears as expected and is recognised by listComPorts as being present. However the bossac program ex dc42 GitHub does not recognise a bossa programming port being present and says use the -p option. This doesn't work either.
I have repeated this procedure with a second board which is not connected to a printer and I get the same problem.
I would really be grateful for some ideas!

Have a read of https://duet3d.com/wiki/Updating_main_firmware in particular Backup Procedure 3 I had to do just this the other day on mine when I had inadvertently got DWC 1.13 with FW 1.15e so it wouldn't let me do throught the Web interface and I also couldn't get Bossa to work (Probably due to not having the Correct driver loaded).
It worked for me

This is not likely to be of any help, but my experience with bossa thing and duet 0.8.5 was very painful (Is that samba thing just UI for Bossa or completely different software?). It didn't work for me with 1. os x on macbook pro, 2. linux on raspberry pi, 3. linux on HP notebook, 4. windows on HP notebook. For various reasons, but I don't remember the details. It did work however with windows in the VMWare VM on the macbook pro… What I'm trying to say is that it seems to be very fragile…

I have never had issue with BOSSAC before but as I say i think that the windows laptop didn't have the DUET Driver installed so I suspect that was my issue whereas the SAM-BA worked like a dream but I was using a windows 7 laptop

Please read the instructions on the wiki. bossac does NOT WORK with the Duet WiFi, you have to use SAM-BA instead.
Did you try copying the new firmware file to the SD card and sending M997 S0 via USB before you erased the firmware?

Ah I had missed the bit about Bossac and the WiFi sorry for that first time I have had to resort to doing it via usb (My fault for rolling FW and DCW back in the wrong order must remember fw up before DWC and DWC first if rolling back).

Thanks for all your help. I was referring to the wrong wiki so also missed the SAM-BA which worked fine for me also so I now have both boards up to date. The only slightly odd feature is that I can connect via an IP address with both boards but only one of them connects with duet****.local
