External Driver wiring to Duet2 wifi Expansion board issues
-
I currently have ST-M5045 connected to Nema 23's. Just testing Dir(-)/Dir(+) wires coming straight from the expansion board with the Duet is powered on I am getting a -4v reading. Should this value be in the negative? I am positive that i have my multi meter leads touching the respective +/-. On top of that, it was my understanding with the Duet just powered on there should be a reading of 0. What could be wired incorrectly?
Thank you for your time!

The signals are differential so as to turn off the opto isolators in your external drivers faster. So the differential voltage will change between about +4V and -4V.

Thank you for the clarification! I read in a post earlier that the Dir +/- should have no reading when sitting idle is this true? Im getting 4v sitting idle and have currently no response to the stepper motors.

No, the voltage between each pair of outputs pins should always be either about +4V or about -4V.
