How long before filament monitor spits out min/avg/max readings?
-
This is my second print. Does this seem normal?
Duet3D laser filament monitor on endstop input 3, disabled, allowed movement 60% to 160%, check every 3.0mm, current position 0.0, brightness 165, shutter 37, measured minimum 0%, average 0%, maximum 0% over 2568.1mm
config.g
; Laser Filament Sensor M591 D0 P5 C3 S0
The LED on the sensor seems to be indicating it's working but not sure what I can look at to see if it really is talking to the duet board.
-
Doesn't S0 mean disabled?
-
I believe so but isn't that how you're supposed to calibrate?
-
I'm assuming this the field "current position" should be incrementing during a print? If it's not that would mean something is wrong with wiring or sensor?
-
Yes, the current position field should change as filament passes through the sensor. It looks like the sensor can't see the filament. Are you sure the housing is correct?

Pretty sure the housing is good, used your stl from thingiverse, sensor facing in towards filament. The sensor blinks green rapidly when moving and red/green when still. Just seems like it's not communicating with the board.
I think I may have damaged my board or the sensor. I initially mixed up two pins, (I think ground and signal were swapped). I'm going to double check the cable and make sure the signal cable doesn't have a bad crimp. If the cable is good I'll try connect it to E1 instead of E0.
Does this sound like a the right way to go?

@dc42 Got it figured out. When I moved the pins around I think I must've messed up the crimp for the data pin. I tested continuety across all pins the first time around but not after moving the pin to the correct position. It's actually showing readings now. Thank you.
Duet3D laser filament monitor on endstop input 4, disabled, allowed movement 60% to 160%, check every 3.0mm, current position -6.7, brightness 94, shutter 17, measured minimum 95%, average 95%, maximum 95% over 12.1mm
