Precision Piezo
-
I had a precision piezo ordered some time ago after I had trouble with my BLTouch (I damaged it).
As the shipping was taking some time I bought and installed a new BLTouch and never used the piezo.Modifying my printer a few days ago, I took the chance and build a custom mount for the precision piezo to give it a try.
I am more than impressed:
G32 bed probe heights: 0.013 0.013 0.013 0.013 0.013 0.013 0.013 0.013 0.013 0.013 0.013 0.013 0.013 0.013 0.013 0.013 0.013 0.013 0.013 0.013 0.013, mean 0.013, deviation from mean 0.000Looks like it is as good as a z-probe can get

Great result!

I'm getting one.

I have mounted it to my main x-carriage pickup-system with a custom mount based on the files of the official mount. I have to park the tools for z-probing and setup tool offsets but I have a 100% clean pseudo nozzle for probing this way.
I am still excited how precise this thing is and that my first attempt of my piezo mount still works fine without any adjustment needed since installation.
It is a modified Anycubic I3 Acrylic printer - more x space for parking/using the tools without loosing printable area,
that is x/y/z 205/205/200mm. -
I think to give a fair impression and manage expectations somewhat, some users find there are a few hours of tweaking required to get reliable performance, and unless you have a very accurate machine getting 0 microns range and 0 microns std deviation is rather optimistic (but great result - still very pleased), something between 5-15 microns range and around 2-4 deviation would be more normal.
But once tuned it is a game changer in terms of reliable levelling/tramming/calibration/compensation.
