PanelDue more useful information….
-
I just LOVE my Duet and Panel due compared to my old RAMPS setup and large LCD.
With that being said….
Some of the info on this is totally redundant and I personally don't see a use for it.
Example is the print time remaining using the Filament and the Layer. These as well aren't very accurate and therefore useless.Something that could go there or somewhere else on the screen would be "Current Layer", as well as a "Total Layer" indicators.
It would be a nice reference to actually identify where the print is in the grand scheme of things - other than just %.I know this was a measurement that is included on the RAMPS LCD setup - would this be hard to integrate into the Panel Due?
Thanks!

Yes it could be added; however the layer count is a very poor indication of how complete the print is in terms of printing time, as you have noted.

I think you're already working on this but I would like to add a justification for it other than the (rather inaccurate) progress one.
I occasionally do a very crude form of manual multi-colour printing by pausing the print at predetermined layers and swapping the filament. Crude, I know, but I've managed to print several Christmas ornaments and even a realistic looking sponge cake (including candles) using this technique.
Having said that "layer x of n" is already displayed just above the print status section on the web interface so if you have a better use for the scarce screen space I can make do without it.

Im not looking for just the completed print time - as it would be nice to know what layer is printing - or last printed - in case of a failure, the print could be resumed from that layer.
Again, I love the Panel Due, I just think it should have more options that could be turned on or off by the user for the type of info desired. -
Hardware overhead wise, is there any chance that the user interface for the PanelDue could be migrated to a html/css/js system in order for it to be easily customisable?

No. If you want to do that, use a tablet computer instead.

Ok thanks David

Another thing i would like to see…if i change the speed factor its possible at the panel..but i cant see the current speed factor. Only the extruder factor is shown
-
The speed factor displays correctly for me. Which Panel Due firmware version do you have?
-
it´s a 4.3" LCD…or is that the reason? too small?
Version1.17 says the lcd
and if im not wrong, thats the actual version. -
@David…found the Error..it was Error 42..Reason sat 42cm away from the LCD
Changed at assembly the language to german..
Speed..a really short word...the german word is " Geschwindigkeit" so..no space left for the percentagechanged to english again..problem solved...thx
-
I'm glad you solved it. Is there a shorter German word or abbreviation it could use?
-
As the word speed is not uncommon in germany i would change it to speed..guess even my grandma would know that its Geschwindigkeit.
-
Thanks, I'll make that change that in the next PanelDue firmware release.

Haha, found the bug with "Geschwindigkeit" by myself… Another funny "fault" is the german translation for "invert display". It translates to "Farben invertieren" what means "invert colors". Correct translation would probably be "Anzeige invertieren". Maybe you could add this to some bug-reporting list if you like
-
Ya, gerne!

How about a custom character? https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geschwindigkeit lists it as a vector. ("V under arrow").
Otherwise, i think "Geschw." (with the period) would be linguistically acceptable?
Or else maybe "m/s" "mm/s" "mm/m"?
-
I used "Speed" because that was suggested earlier.
