CNC Lathe using stepper as spindle

I am making a small lathe and using a stepper motor as spindle. I am using the Duet2 wifi running Duet Web 3.4.6.
How can I control the rpm of the motor in such a way it stays spinning until commanded to stop?Thanks

What about producing a 0-10V output, specified at tool definition? -

@flopes you could define a spindle and use PWM in CNC mode

@flopes a DC motor controlled by a VFD would be a much better choice for a lathe. See https://docs.duet3d.com/en/User_manual/Machine_configuration/Configuration_CNC#connecting-a-spindle
The rest of that page will also be useful setting up the lathe in CNC mode.
