Pause/resume issues in 3.5.0rc3+5?

EDIT 01.04.2024: Changed the title of the thread due to the problem seemingly being related to pause/resume and not filament runout.
System info:
Duet3 Mini Wifi & 1LC 1.2a in standalone with RRF 3.5.0rc3+5 on both boards, DWC 3.5.0.rc3 & WiFiServer 2.1b7
I thought I should use up some near empty spools I had layiing around and test out the filament runout routine at the same time.
I've got the printer configured with a HAL sensor right before the "intake" of my LGX-lite (direct drive). It's configured like this:

And it's functionally working with some manual testing, RRF detects when filament is/isn't there.
So now for the chain of event's that revealed the issue:
- I started printing it was maybe a couple meters of filament left on the first spool, so I started the print and checked that the first layer got put down like it should and left the house for a while.
- When I came back i suspected the printer to have paused due to filament runout, which it had.
- PanelDue indicated that extruder 0 had run out of filament, and it seemed like
pause.g
had ben run (based on where the toolhead was parked). - I load & prime the hotend new filament, check for proper function by extruding 20mm @ 5mm/s from PanelDue and press Resume.
- The toolhead moves back over the workpiece (where i suspect it had run out) and then just hovers over it, not dropping down to the correct Z height.
- I check the tool temp, and that's all ok. Then start to wonder what the fuck's going on.
- I press Pause, the printer goes into a paused state and the toolhead moves off accordingly.
- I try to extrude again with PD, which works.
- Press Resume again, and the toolhead moves back to the same spot as before, stays there for maybe 1(?)
second before it moves of to another place and then start raising the bed all "willy-nilly" and ends up ramming the print into the toolhead before I slap the E-stop.

since I haven't seen a need for it in my workflow/setup (yet?).But here is my pause/resume macro's:

@Exerqtor Hm. My printer is running rc3+ date 2024-02-27 here, and filament run-out detection. manual load via PanelDue and resume works perfectly fine.

@NeoDue Thx for your feedback, but you're running a somewhat older version of 3.5.0 rc3 than I am. Please try these binaries and check if it still works.
I just tried another print with a manual filamentchange (who worked on on 3.5.0b4) and this make the machine stuck in a loop.
I've got the machine setup to automatically purge(if "ok") & resume the print once i click "ok" or "skip" in when
M600
is called (I'll post the macros farther down in the post).This is the way it's supposed to work (and have worked until recently):

In the meantime, I will try to understand that complicated filament change logic of yours...
Offtopic and just to understand: why the heck do you use daemon.g to restart the print instead of simply using filament-change.g to handle everything, including the decision to resume the print?

It's talked about in this thread from about this time last year lol. It might be that RRF has changed it's behaviour in regard to how the states and resume is dealt with on filament change by now that I haven't picked up on. But if you skim through that thread you will see what I/we wanted to achieve.

@Exerqtor Thanks for the link! I faintly remember reading it while I worked on my setup... and that it was the reason for deciding that a manual filament change is perfectly fine for now
But @dc42's information in there that M24 within filament-change.g is not allowed is the answer to my question.
Edit: one thought however: I do not use M600 or such, but I do use a custom filament load macro (not named "filament-change.g") - which is however called by hand via pressing the corresponding Macro button in the PanelDue. When the filament is loaded, I press resume manually - which also works, at least for my firmware version. Did you already try to narrow down the issue, e.g. by calling your filament change macro manually / replacing M24 with a manual call etc?

@NeoDue Well it's happening in two different scenarios for me now at least, one from the printer being paused by a filament runout, and one from a filament change.
And since i'm not using
filament-error.g
the filament runout is pretty much just a regular pause but with a runout flag.So i'm quite sure it's something under the hood of RRF's thats broken and causing this

@Exerqtor Yes, but it might help the devs if you can tell them for example "step x works if I start the macro manually but if I let M600 start it it fails" or such, hence the question. You do have a rather complex routine there

@Exerqtor We are currently investigating a problem with pause/resume in the latest builds of RRF. I suspect this may be what is causing this problem. You may want to hold off any further investigations until we have a fix for that problem available.

Aaah i just did a test with the first ones you supplied there and was about to repport that the issue is persistent.I'll try the NEWER ones after dinner and report back!
@dc42 Naah that build is borked! Now Z won't even move after homing. Or if i try to move the bed from PD / DWC nothing happens.
The printer reported Z0.54 after homing, and if i try to lower Z with 5mm the reported Z-height changes to 5.54 but no actual movement.

I just saw that the printer state is permanently "Busy" now after trying to home & lower Z. Dispite the printer not doing anything.

@Exerqtor I've updated the files, same link as before. A remaining issue I have noticed is that when resuming after a pause there is a slight delay between restoring the XYZ position and starting printing again. I think I know the reason for that and I'll look into it tomorrow.
