meshbed compensation not by Z axis
-
Hello,
is it possible to do meshbed compensation not by the means of Z axis but with using a separate mechanism incorporated? Or is meshbed compensation bound to be done through/with Z axis ? @dc42 @jay_s_uk anyone?and if possible, is it doable for like an IDEX machines, while printing ditto job, that each head would individually actively compensate. Especially now that multistream gcode capability is becoming a real thing (respect on that achievement btw)
thank you

@MaracMB AFAIK it's a gordic knot by now. If you search here for "mini-Z axis" I've asked the same a few times in the past years.
The solution could be to print a single big raft with mesh compensation and then switch it off for ditto printing.
Or build a printer that works fine without mesh compensation...

so on an idex machine 2 heads , instead of the bed moving for compensation each head would move in the z axis to compensate....................

@o_lampe ya ya ya, “build it right”… agree.
Still, as those wise words go: we can not build machines perfectly precise, but we can make them precisely adjustable. -

@MaracMB I have moved it to the firmware wish list. If you have an Idex machine where each tool is on its own Z axis then this would be theoretically possible but of course requires firmware work and the dual independent motion systems is not exactly the same sort of solution because in the case of the idex machine the motion systems are not independent.
