M579 scaling question
-
I've got an M579 command for each filament type to adjust for part shrinkage. I only adjust the X and Y with this command and I was contemplating adding an adjustment in the Z direction also but started wondering...
Does RRF adjust the volumetric flow rate in addition to scaling the coordinates?
As an extreme example, if I set a scale factor of 200 on each of X, Y, and Z, then executed a straight line extrude, extrusion per length would need to increase by a factor of 4 to compensate for the scaled width and height.
My assumption has always been that the flow rate would not be changed, assuming small scale factors. This will help compensate the overall size of a part, but if the overall volume of plastic is not increased, shrinkage will happen on less obvious dimensions.

No, it just scales the coordinates.

Thanks @dc42. That's what I expected, and is plenty good enough for addressing shrinkage. If I (or anyone else) wants to be more precise, scaling in the slicer would be the way to go.
