Flickering paneldue
-
Just got my printer powered up after swapping to Duet3 (mini5+2) with a 1LC(v1.2) since my Duet2 bit the dust, and i'm at the point where i THINK i've worked out my config bugs etc.
So then start focusing and derping around on the PanelDue (5" v3, connected via 4-wire) to check if everything worked on that end i noticed the backlight (or so i think at least) is flickering. Were talking about maybe 3-5Hz or something. And looks like it stops flickering when it dimms down due to inactivity before the screensaver turns on.
The board is powered through VIN/24V and the PD is the only componet hooked up that's running on 5V atm. and everything has been updated to 3.4.1-r1.
Any clues to what might be the deal here? I've checked the crimps and ohmed all 4 wires going to the PD and they seem good.
Here's a little snippet of what i'm talking about: https://youtu.be/jAfHdi10uq0

@exerqtor what type of heated bed do you have?
-
@exerqtor does it still flicker if you disconnect it from the Duet and power it from its USB port? If so then please submit a warranty claim to warranty@duet3d.com.

Haven't tried that yet, i'll to it later today. Worked just fine before though, and the only thing i did was to shorten/recrimp the mobo side of the wires

A bad crimp connection in the 5V or ground wire could cause that flickering.

@dc42 didn't help to recrimp, but with this behaviour the most likely problem is the PD? In that case it would be a good reason to swap for a 5i or 7i

@exerqtor did you try powering the PD from its USB port?

Haven't gotten around to do it yet, got quite a backlogg of stuff i have to get printed first now that the printer is actually up and working

@dc42 Looks like I found the problem, like mentioned in another thread I just re-soldered the WiFi module. And now the flickering seems to have stopped. COULD a weak/bad solderpoint to the WiFi module have caused this? Or am i grasping at straws?

IMO it's unlikely that resoldering the wifi module would affect the PanelDue.

It's subsided atleast, so i'm a happy chap

@Exerqtor I'll mark this as solved but feel free to revert it if the problem occurs again.
