How to update FW on SBC/Duet3 mini without internet connectivity
-
If it's taking more than a couple minutes it's probably finished and hasn't moved on. A power cycle would likely indicate that the firmware has been updated successfully. Take comfort that it's not possible to brick a board with a firmware update.
-
@phaedrux - cool - i just dont want to brick .. all my configs.
Its been like 15 minutes ... Suggesting perhaps I restart ?

all my configs
The configs should be safe on the SBC. And you have backups right? ....right?
-
@phaedrux yeah but still a massive PITA ...
-
@phaedrux - noticing some lines in there ...
... to delete the "dsf" user run as root ..
... to delete the "gpio" group run as root
Errors or just useful info or not to worry ?
Minimized the terminal window and the DWC is showing ... please wait while updates are being installed ...

That's a question for Chrishamm
-
@chrishamm -dont suppose youre still up and online by chance ? ^^^^^

Boooooyaaaa !!!! Thanks Gents .... SUCCESS.
It was hangin
Just said WTF ... YOLO ... and Powered down the Pi and and shut power off to the Voron and restarted.
everything is on the 3.4.0
Many thanks again
-
@phaedrux - seems all the updates worked except on hte main duet ... its still on 3.4.beta3
Any ideas @chrishamm ... dwc is updated - toolboard is updated ... are the proper files for 3.4.0 on my system now and I can just M997 for the mainboard duet 3 mini5+ ?
-
Just yolo'd again and went for a M997 S0 - somewhere earlier I saw that the previous work I did in this thread put the proper files in the proper place - so I fgured M997S0 - might get me solid. Worked for now.
-
@phaedrux - looks like I again spoke to soon.
well the rasp pi is NOT updated to 3.4.0 stable though
grep of the installed duet versions indicates all are still on 3.4beta3 on the Pi
Ideas to correct this ?

@sputnikoc3d delete all debs and download only the 3.4.0 packages without beta in the filename, then upgrade using dpkg again.
