So what did Santa bring?

What did you get printer related for Xmas?
My new roll of filament almost makes my printer look normal size!
I definitely needed a new bracket....
Merry Xmas all!

Time to finish off my Kossel XL Plus and start making things with it!
It was an early christmas present:It dwarfs my original Overlord Pro - though the Overlord makes up for that with it's noise level, it's audible right through the house!
The Duet based machines are really quiet in comparison - especially the Kossel. It has a Duet 6HC main board with Raspberrry Pi (under the bed mounting plate) and the 24V supply with a separate 5V supply and SSR under the top plate.
I still have to tidy up the cables a bit around the back, they are just hanging or wedges in the extrusion slots at present.
I see it appears to be exactly the same mechanical spec as JujuDelta's machine.

It's a bit late for christmas-whishlist, but today I placed a bid on a K40 CO2 Laser
Whish me luck If it works out, it's Bye-Bye diode laser time -
@o_lampe you may want to keep the diode laser around for it's different wavelength and use cases.

@oliof
I thought of making an IDEX-laser from the K40 housing, but the x-beam profile and the rollers they use are pretty unique. I'll start a separate thread with a few questions in the Laser Cutter section. -
Nice, my K40 is sat waiting an upgrade with a fly-rrf-e3 board. Thought it was something nice and simple to try out their board on.
Good luck with your purchase / conversion!

Did you try K40-whisperer or meerK40t firmware on the original controller? Most videos I've seen mention these and are quite happy with the result. It's not lightburn which would need an controller upgrade, but AFAIK RRF laser mode still struggles to keep up with raster-engraving speed. (although improved lately)
In case you want to use RRF, there's a config for K40 from @paulg4h on github. -

Did you try K40-whisperer or meerK40t firmwareNo I didn't, I don't think it was around when I got mine many years ago. It's been running on an Arduino with a marlin laser fork. It's never worked to my satisfaction. Hence the swap out. I don't use raster, all I do is cut out parts from sheet ply and acrylic. We'll see how it goes!
