Toolboard 1lc v1.2 will support 2×65w heaters?
-
Hello everyone.
I have a mosquito magnum+ and I am wondering if it is possible to change the heaters ( slice engineering 2 × 50w) with 2× 65w E3D high temperature heaters.
I know that I will be just over 5A.
There is any margin up to 5.5A?
Ps. I am running 30v -

@silviuz just use a external MOSFET?

@pcr yes it's a option... but I was wondering about the limitations of the toolboard

AFAIK the 65W heaters are rated at 65W at 24V so draw 2.71A at 24V and are nominally 8.85Ohms. If you run them at 30V you will draw 3.39A each and so they will be 102W heaters, each. That's probably not a good idea for those heater cartridges, let alone way more than we have rated the input for the toolboard.

Ps. I am running 30vThere is no way you need 204 watts in a Mosquito Magnum+. I doubt you could use even 80 watts, and that’s if you were printing PEEK at 80mm^3/sec.
It takes very little heat to melt polymer, on the order of 1 watt per cubic mm/sec.

@t3p3tony thank you for your reply. I will use a mofset
