Duet smart effector 1LC mount?
-
Before I go and design something I figured I should ask as someone may have one already.
My thought is to mount it verticaly above the smart effector using 2 of the 3 inner mount points.
Has anyone done anything similar and willing to share?

@opentoideas
The 1LC has connectors or buttons on all PCB-sides. Mounting it vertically will block one side, unless you turn it 45°.
Would that make the accel-sensor useless? -
@o_lampe good point but not a huge issue. Will just pick the least populated side for my setup to face down and raise it enough to provide clearance.
Like you say I suspect it needs to be mounted in either the X or Z planes to work correctly but it might not.... more reading to do

I'd suggest keeping it "right way up" with the power & CAN connectors at the top.
The other main connections are at the sides; I've not user the lower ones on any of my tool setups.
Mine are the V1.0 ones, so yours may have different connector types, but the locations are still the same.
The bottom two are a second thermistor input and IO2. You can see the small amount of space the similar CAN connector needs, so if you want those available probably 5-6mm is enough, if you fit the plugs before mounting the board.

@rjenkinsgb thanks, yes that looks like the way to go although the more I am considering this the less I like the thought of mounting the toolboard onto the smart effector.
I think the better place form a mounting and weight perspective would be on the flying extruder but that would render the accelerometer useless as it would be registering the weird vibrations of the flying extruder not the print head. I would then need to have a remote mounted accelerometer on the print head connecting back to the toolboard. I have hope for this as its been mentioned there was a 2 accelerometer idea similar but measuring print head and frame.

well I think I have managed to mash together several different mounts and fan shrouds and have come up with something that should work.... its not the prettiest but combines the parts I liked especially @jay_s_uk fan shroud.
as I use a volcano it looks like I have just enough space for the 1LC under the smart effector though it is tight.
if anyone is interested here is my not pretty collaboration of designs
predetor delta effector adapter toolboard and fans.stl
40mm fan on the hotend cooling
4020 blower fan for part cooling
toolboard mounting
seperate adapter for existing Anycubic Predator arms which when I change to magballs can simply be removed leaving the rest good to go at the expense of a small amount of Z height. -

Very nice!
I've been considering a Kossel KL style machine for general use, & that looks excellent to go with it, whenever I get to building one. -
thank you, I normally use fusion 360 but for this one I had my first go with Tinkercad and for editing stl's its great but its not great for making fluid connections or at least I wasnt able to figure it out in the day but everything is supported and should be robust.
once its printed I will start the assembly and wiring and with luck it will all be working over the weekend. lots of fiddly crimps to look forward too!
