BL Touch Issues... Again and Again...
-
So I have a few Duet Boards and I have never had one function properly with BL touch. After doing a 25 point probing run Im forced to manually twist one of my z motors to level the bed as the Mesh generated always lifts off the build plate as it moves across the X axis. As my shop gains more and more printers I just don't have time to "Babysit" every machine after starting a print.
-
@kwad3d-0 i think you're confusing the mesh levelling with bed levelling.
What type of printer do you have?
Maybe post a photo and your config -
@jay_s_uk A bed mesh is generated after probing the bed. Its a 3D printer.
c -
@kwad3d-0 yes, but that doesn't adjust anything so moving motors after the fact will invalidate that height map.
-
@jay_s_uk Not sure if you read the whole post or not. Never said anything that would confuse Bed leveling with Mesh leveling. I also said that the mesh generated was lifting off the bed. So it was not valid in the first place making any manual adjustments I make irrelevant.

@kwad3d-0 ok. good luck

Well to reduce confusion the terms are Mesh Bed Compensation or Bed Leveling (manual or automatic).
Mesh Leveling is a misnomer.
That said what do you mean by "the mesh generated was lifting off the bed"?
Thanks.

If I have to explain what that meant then you obviously are not going to be of much assistance. I never said Mesh Leveling I only said "Mesh" which is actually a generic term used in 3D printing to describe the the grid generated either manually or by a probe. "Height Map" is a term not used with Marlin or other firmware I'm aware of and is generically referred to by Mesh. Being I run a shop with 30 machines of different operating systems I tend to use the more widely accepted term. Semantics over proper terminology is not going to assist me however but Thanks for commenting though...

Nothing obvious about it.
The phrase "the mesh generated was lifting off the bed" makes no sense at all.
The mesh cannot lift off the bed because the mesh doesn't exist, it's only a numeric representation of the surface of the bed.
If the mesh appears uneven it's because the probed data is showing the bed is uneven.

@fcwilt If you say so.... regardless your of no assistance to my issue if you can't figure out what's going on here LOL. Duet3D support will understand just fine as they always do and have a non condescending reply that addresses my direct issue.

Well I do know what I am talking about. I have four custom printers and they print just fine. Two of them use BLTouch devices and they work as they should.
He is one of the heightmaps generated with a BLTouch.
-
@fcwilt my height map looks better then that however still lifts off on one side by about 1mm. So You don't know what your talking about and are just trolling at this point. You have not contributed anything at all besides criticizing my terminology I use. I don't want you to comment any longer and be on your way now...

I think you are confused about who may be a troll.
But since you are so wise I'm sure you can solve this simple problem on your own.
Have a great day!

@fcwilt No confusion. You have nothing positive to add and are only here to argue with the poster. Just trolling. The only one confused here is the guy who can't figure out what I meant when I said Mesh...

It's hard to help when there is not enough information provided to determine the cause of the problem.
How about you post your height map image and CSV file along with your config.g file.

@fcwilt Oh Your still here??? Thought I said you could leave.....

Since you are having troubling solving your problem, I and the rest of us are here to help.
But you have to let us by providing additional relevant information.

@fcwilt Your not here to help so I will just hang out for a Mod who knows what there talking about and what Im talking about. Like I said earlier.... If you don't know what the word "Mesh" is referring to then you don't have the mental capacity to be of any assistance. However I don't believe this is the case. I think that you know what I referred to and are just playing a childish game to pass some time....

@fcwilt is one of the experienced users who really knows this stuff and spends a lot of time helping. But to help he must first understand what the problem is.
I can not get such an attitude ...Edit:
Yes and sometimes he is also very accurate about terms. But that is certainly not to bother... -
- Can you describe what you are doing to probe the shape of the bed? Sometimes there are simple errors in probing that can cause issues and it would be good to know you are doing everything the right way.
- Can you post a screenshot of your heightmap after probing? Sometimes that helps see something strange going on.
- Can you post your config.g?
- Can you describe in a little more detail what problem you are having? It sounds like if you go to Z=0 on the left-side of the bed that the nozzle is very close to the bed, and if you move to the right in the X axis and go to Z=0 that the nozzle is 1mm off the bed. Is that right?
- Can you tell us what kind of printer you have?
- Can you tell us what version of firmware you have?
- Can you tell us what specific Duet board(s) you are using?
All those things help you get a quick correct set of things you can do to work towards getting better prints.
