mini 5+ toolhead bltouch problems

I've just upgraded from a duet2wifi to a mini 5+ and a toolhead. Everything is working apart from the bltouch. It doesn't depoy when probing z.
the below code deploys and retracts as expected

That's not correct syntax. The P value there refers to the Servo index number you created in the M950 command for the pin.
M950 S0 C"121.io0.out" ; create servo pin 0 for BLTouch
So the P in your M280 should be
P0
Further, the
I1
isn't used in M280 anymore. To invert the signal, use a!
in front of the pin name in the M950 command.C"!121.io0.out"

I'm actually quite surprised that works.
Can you also check your firmware versions? M115 and M115 B121. They should both match, and should be 3.3. If not, update by uploading https://github.com/Duet3D/RepRapFirmware/releases/download/3.3/Duet2and3Firmware-3.3.zip to the system tab in DWC. It should update. Check versions again. If the expansion board hasn't updated as well, send M997 B121 to update it manually.

figured out the last bit. I didnt need to define a pin in M574 Z
