Black Duet 2 Wifi board?
-
Hello.
I was browsing around, for a used Duet 2 wifi board for a future project.
I found a "used" board that looked weird.
I personally only know the blue duet 2 wifi boards, like my original one I sourced from a reputable german seller.
the board shown was a black duet board v1.2 with the print "Designed and assembled in the UK" with no hint that it isn't an original board.
Am I right with my suspicion that this is a copy with the wrong printing?

@x30n Hello! This card is from Makerbase, I have about 4 of them, they work normally until then.
-
@x30n It's a clone board, not produced by Duet3D. I doubt it was assembled in the UK!

@droftarts Really, she is Chinese. But the components are basically the same, for example the drivers and the main controller. As far as I know these cards are 'open hardwere', which allows other companies to reproduce it. Correct yourself if I'm wrong, please.

@3dcloner You are correct, the major components are the same. However, it's the corner-cutting on the minor components, like out-of-spec voltage regulators, cheap connectors and generic low-quality electrical components, or the PCB itself (thin tracks, using thinner copper layers, or changing/breaking the layout to reduce component count), or failing spectacularly to be aware of EMI issues, that cause most problems with clones, that we've seen over the years.

That's what I thought.
Didn't the Licence include a clause that forbids the use of the print for the clones and mandates to declare that the product isn't endorsed and supported like in this picture ?
-
@x30n Yes, but not every cloner reads the licence!

@droftarts Got it and agree!
