New Duet 3 Mini 5+ external drivers header misaligned
-
Good day all,
After along wait I FINALLY received the Mini 5+. During inspection I noticed that the external drivers header is misaligned by about 3/4 of a mm:
I am concerned that this may pose some fitment issues with the external driver board (retention pegs will be misaligned). I am also a bit disappointed to see this type of defect on a Duet board.
Can I ask for some feedback from someone at Duet3D?
Thank you.

Can you confirm the pinholes are also misaligned on the underside? Or is it a bent housing?
Nevertheless, I think it won't influence the functionality. Maybe it's a bit fiddly to insert the external driver board, but it will be a secure fit -

The PCB back side is fine, it looks like the pins have been very slightly misaligned during placement or during soldering. For most connectors this would make no difference but for the daughter board the alignment is much more critical.Particularly with all the thermal cycling that it will see in operation, any preload should be avoided or it will lead to solder fatigue over time. Hence my concern...

I don't think it would pose a long term issue, however that is not up to our standards and we will gladly issue a replacement to alleviate your concerns. Please contact your vendor and initiate a warranty exchange. Include a link to this thread as authorization. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Thank you very much. I am in Canada. I would not be normally concerned about this in any consumer electronics, but I have seen and measured how hot the TMC drivers normally run and over time I think it could be a potential reliability issue (I'm an engineer)...
Oh, and no need to apologise, I know quite well this is an imperfect world!
