Duet3d + 3hc Can cable lenght ?
-
I have couples of 3HC boards that I can't use on my projects so I will be using them as test bench for steppers and whatever weird crazy genius type projects I am working on in my lab. **No I don't wear a white coverall, and we don't have a politic against drinking at work.. so sometime it does get interesting.
I already have a workstation with a 6HC so they will be added to it. Only issue is my others station are about 10ft from that board.
If I totally disregard the delay between the boards (they won't be working together anyway) and use the 3HC boards to do really simple movement, how long can the can cable be ?

@jrockland, the speed of light in vacuum is 1 foot per nanosecond, or maybe half that in a cable. So your 10ft cable will delay the signal by about 20ns. The default bit time is 1000ns, so I don't expect a 20ns delay to affect behaviour. Use twisted pair cable.
If the main board drives a bed heater, position the PSU close to the main board so that you can keep the power wires short.

@dc42 awesome
Delays isnt a problem, just wanted to make sure the distance wouldnt cause connection issue.
