Duet 3 Mini 5+
-
Hello,
I am interested in buying the Duet 3 Mini 5+ and 3 or 4 Toolboard 1LC.
It is not clear for me if I can use 4 Toolboard 1LC with mini 5+, or even if I can connect them through the Duet 3 Tool Distribution Board.
So how many Toolboard 1LC can mini 5+ take?
Thank you.

I don't believe the number of expansion boards has been explicitly stated anywhere.
To use more than one toolboard you would need the distribution board. -

The limit will depend on how many CAN expansion boards the Duet 3 Mini has enough processor power and RAM to support.
Currently the firmware limits for the Duet 3 Mini are 4 CAN-connected expansion boards with up to 7 drivers total on them. I can easily increase the maximum number of CAN boards if necessary, provided they don't overload the processor. If only one tool board will be used at a time (e.g. on a tool changer), that will help because a tool board that isn't moving needs very little main board processor resource.
The Duet 3 Mini can be used with the tool distribution board if you make up a cable with a 2-pin Molex KK connector at one and and RJ11 (6p2 or 6p4) connector the other end. There is a photo of this cable at https://duet3d.dozuki.com/Wiki/CAN_connection.

@dc42 ok thank you.
In fact I was thinking of using the 4 drivers on the board for x, y, z and c axes. And the Tool Distribution Board for the 3 or 4 extruders.
As you mentioned, it should be easy enough for the processor to work this way.
