PWM Expansion
-
have you used all 5 heater pins on the expansion port?
-
I have not. I would prefer an expansion board of some type for cleaner wiring and also a lack of electrical component knowledge. If there is nothing reasonable I can use some external mosfets if someone will point me to the correct component and wiring diagrams. They will either be connected to fans or an ssr.

the duex5 has the 5 pwm ports.
-
I have looked the duex5 but can't justify the cost for only a few pwm outputs. It also has 5 unnecessary stepper driver.
-
You can drive most SSRs directly from the heater control outputs on the expansion connector. Connect the SSR control input between +3.3V and the chosen heater control output.

then there is the duex2

Just to double check. The heater control output pins have a max voltage of +3.3V input? I have already burned up one processor from overvoltage.

I have previously I have reached out to a number of my suppliers and no one has the duex2 available in the US.

Will it work to connect the PWM wire from a 4 wire 12v fan to a heater control outputs on the expansion connector? -

Will it work to connect the PWM wire from a 4 wire 12v fan to a heater control outputs on the expansion connector? It will probably work, however if the black fan wire becomes disconnected from ground then it is likely to damage the microcontroller.
